Indochina Tour is located on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia, the country of Vietnam is a culturally rich and beautiful place to visit. If you have never had the chance to go and spend some time in Vietnam, it can make for a great trip. The country offers a multitude of special sites, activities, destinations, and cuisines to discover. For those that are thinking about planning a future trip to Vietnam, read on to learn about 6 experiences every traveler should have in Vietnam.

Try Some New Local Flavours and Foods

Vietnam is home to some of the most unique culinary dishes. If you have never tried pho before, definitely make sure you find an authentic bowl of it somewhere. It is an exceptional Vietnamese soup that consists of special rice noodles, broth, meat, herbs, and more. Another Vietnamese specialty to try out is egg coffee: this unusual beverage is usually made using robusta coffee, condensed milk, egg yolks, and sugar – and a lot tastier than expected! It is a popular drink in many Vietnam cities. Also extremely popular is the gourmet kona coffee that is produced all over Vietnam. Beyond these examples, there are many options to eat and drink in Vietnam!

Saigon Skydeck

Located in the populous Ho Chi Minh City, the Saigon Skydeck is an unforgettable local landmark. It is a Bitexco Tower and can be found within downtown Ho Chi Minh. This large skyscraper overlooks the entire city and visitors to the Saigon Skydeck can get a beautiful view across the city from the top. Try to go on a day that is fairly clear, without too much fog or wet weather conditions that might obstruct the stunning view.

War Remnants Museum

Located in Ho Chi Minh City, the War Remnants Museum is a wonderful educational opportunity to learn more about the country’s tumultuous history, specifically through the lens of the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War left a massive toll on the country and its people throughout the years, and the museum investigates its legacy. It houses many different gallery exhibits such as military armory and materials, as well things like war-related artwork and images of some of the horrific experiences that Vietnamese people faced during the war, such as detention centers.

Motor Biking

If you have ever wanted to rent a motorbike, Da Nang is a great location to try it out. This city can be found on the coastal area of the South China Sea where the sea meets the Han River. The area has a diverse topography which makes it useful for this activity. Bikers can ride through the mountainous areas of the city as well as through the flatter beach areas. The Hai Van Pass, which has been featured on the UK motoring show Top Gear, is a particularly popular spot in the city. This activity is a great way to see a large amount of the landscape in one day. Just remember to wear the proper padding and protection!

Elephant Racing

Elephant racing is another great example of a unique activity that you can do during a trip to Vietnam. If you are visiting during March and you go to the Đk Lk province, they hold an annual Elephant Racing Festival. If you aren’t interested in racing elephants, there are many places in Vietnam where you can interact with local elephants in the wild and in captivity in a more relaxed environment.

The Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve

If you are a science or nature lover, then this spot is a must-see. Located a short distance from Ho Chi Minh City, the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve is a wonderful area of natural beauty. The reserve holds a host of exciting ecosystems, including wetlands, mudflats, mangroves, seagrasses, and salt marshes. Living in all these different environments you’ll be sure to spot a variety of wildlife on the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve, including crocodiles and hundreds of cheeky monkeys! This area is an important resource for coastal stabilization for Vietnam, so visitors are invited to view and donate as much as possible.
